The loss of two teenage girls in a rollover accident last week near Altura brought an outpouring of grief Wednesday as friends, family, and classmates gathered for funerals in Winona and Lewiston. The funerals also brought an outpouring of memories about year-old Morgan Elizabeth Zeller of Lewiston and year-old Katie Lee Hornberg of Altura, who died along with year-old Shauna Marie Ruhoff of Lewiston in the crash. Ruhoff's funeral was Tuesday. Other notes written by Zeller's friends talked about her sense of humor and how they can't believe she was gone so soon.
At Hornberg's funeral, several friends wrote notes on poster boards about how she was always smiling. At Zeller's funeral, the Rev.
Richard Colletti said it will take friends and family time to work through the emotions caused by the crash. While he assured Zeller's family that many people are supporting them, Colletti also turned special attention to the many young people at the funeral.
Zeller, who has been remembered for her love of shopping, texting and scrapbooking, had a particularly close friendship with Ruhoff. A board decorated with several pictures of the pair together said "best friends forever" at the top. Hornberg's funeral marked the third held in two days following the crash and the second at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston. Milo Ernster.
Ernster described the afternoon on which Hornberg and her friends died as a time full of possibilities. Hornberg has been remembered for playing flute in the school band and for her love of playing softball, writing poetry, drawing and photography.
